Malcolm Palmer has been riding motorcycles since 1976

What started as easy transport soon developed into almost 30 years involvement in rider training.  During that time he has taught riders at all levels from absolute novice through to advanced instructor, including CBT training and as an Examiner for the Part One Test

For several years he was centre organiser for Cooper Bike Training, providing probably the first specific course in the UK for ‘Born Again’, ‘Back to Biking’, riders

For 5 years Malcolm was National Co-ordinator for the BMF’s ‘Blue Riband’ advanced course, developing it from 3 trial centres to 45 across the UK

In 1994 he qualified as an instructor for the MSF (a US organisation), working with the United States Air Force in the UK, and has blended many elements of MSF courses into UK training

Malcolm was involved in the development of the Rider Ideas BTEC instructor training qualification, and wrote the ‘post-test’ section of the course manual, and he has advised on rider and instructor training for DSA (Driving Standards Agency) research projects.  In 1995 he represented the UK at an FIM international symposium on post-test rider training, presenting a paper ‘The Development of Advanced Rider Training in the UK’
